Our Righteousness Is From Everlasting to Everlasting

Seventy weeks are determined for your people and for your holy city, to finish the transgression, to make an end of sins, to make reconciliation for iniquity, to bring in EVERLASTING RIGHTEOUSNESS. Daniel 9:24

When you hear a message on righteousness on a particular Sunday morning, come Monday morning we will still be confessing that we are the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus. But come Thursday or Friday, we begin to confess our sins. When Sunday comes around again and you hear this message again, you start confessing that you are righteous. Why do you think we do that?

We can’t be righteous on Sunday and then a few days later become unrighteous because of sin. No, our righteousness is an everlasting righteousness. Jesus has obtained eternal redemption for us (Hebrews 9:12). But you might say, Pastor Don, I have just sinned. How can I be righteous?

Friends, we must understand that it is not what you do that makes you righteous. It is what Christ has already done at Calvary. In Romans 5:19 it says, “For as by one man’s (Adam) disobedience many were made sinners, so also by one Man’s (Jesus) obedience many will be made righteous.” It’s the obedience of one Man, Christ, and not your obedience, that has made you righteous.

Know this friend, God wants you established in what Christ has done. He wants you to focus and be conscious of your everlasting righteousness in Christ. Now, how do we do that? One thing, you can listen to anointed teaching on this subject that reminds you of your right standing in Him. And we cannot just know this in our heads. You must speak it every day. Remind yourself and say, “I am the righteousness of God in Christ” (2 Corinthians 5:21).
We don’t need a revelation of how sinful we are. We all know when we sin. The devil will remind you of your sins to keep you in condemnation. Even some friends and family will remind you of your sins. What you need, instead, is a revelation of how forever righteous you are in God’s eyes, especially when you sin.

And when you are conscious of this gift of righteousness that is everlasting, you will reign in life (Romans 5:17). You will reign over sin, bad habits, sicknesses, lack of everything that holds you back from a victorious life. This is wonderful news.
