Jesus, A Very Present Help In Time Of Need

God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.  Psalm 46:1

There are times in all of our lives when we feel like we’re at a dead end road regarding the situations in our lives. We’ve done all we know to do and still we feel like things just aren’t working and we continue to not see any results. Well, one thing I want you to understand is, NOW is not the time to give up. NOW is the time to listen to the Lord Jesus.

We need to hear Him. Instead of depending on your experience and expertise, learn to lean on Him. Regardless of how you feel, you are not alone. You need to listen to Him and do exactly what He tells you to do. Jesus told Peter in Luke 5:4-5 to let down “your NETS” (plural). This didn’t make any sense to Peter as he had been fishing all night and caught nothing. Nevertheless, Peter said, “At Your word I will let down the NET” (singular). Obviously he wasn’t expecting to catch anything.

It's no wonder the NET began to break and Peter had to call for his friends to come and help him. Jesus is your very present help in time of need. Whatever your struggle is today, you can know beyond the shadow of a doubt that He is with you and knows exactly how to help you. There are people who have been working so hard, trying everything they know to get their lives right and win God’s approval.

The more they try, the more distant they feel from Him. The harder they push, the more they feel that they consistently fail and disappoint Him. They are just as wore out as the fishermen who had fished all night and caught nothing. Friends, if this describes you, I want you to know that God loves you even with all your imperfections. Yes, in all your failings, in all your mistakes, God still loves you. It’s time to come to Him just as you are.

Many have said, Let me get my life straightened out first and then I will come. But no one tries to clean himself before taking a bath. Jesus IS the bath. Come to Him with all your inadequacies, all your addictions, all your habits, and all of your hang ups, and let Him do what He does best. Let Him save you and restore you to wholeness. Jesus can and will transform you with His perfect love. Glory to God.
