Need Healing, It's All About Jesus

“He Himself took our infirmities and bore our sicknesses.”   Matthew 8:17

I love the word HIMSELF in our scripture because it is so personal. We’re all familiar with Isaiah 53:4, which says, “Surely, He has borne our griefs (sickness’s) and carried our sorrows (pains). But Matthew records that Jesus spoke of HIMSELF. In other words, It wasn’t an angel who declared our scripture text. No, your health, healing and wholeness was too important to Him, so He HIMSELF bore your every sickness and disease.

We all need to meditate on the word HIMSELF. We need to remember the ONE who suffered and died for us, the ONE who took our infirmities and bore our sicknesses, so we don’t have to bear them. Jesus HIMSELF did it because you are so precious to Him. Whenever you go to the doctor, whatever you’re diagnosed with, you need to immediately confess and possibly even tell your doctor that Jesus HIMSELF has taken it upon His own body on the cross.

This is very important here: DON’T FOCUS ON LOOKING FOR HEALING; INSTEAD, FOCUS ON THE LORD JESUS HIMSELF. Focus on the ONE “who HIMSELF bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live for righteousness, by whose stripes you were healed” (1 Peter 2:24). Have you ever noticed when you seek Jesus and simply spend time in His presence, your fears, worries, and anxieties just melt away.

You find that in His presence there is total peace. There is healing and wholeness. And when you look for your symptoms, you find them NO MORE. Now why? Because you are in the presence of the Healer. In Exodus 15, when Jesus told Israel, “I am the Lord who heals you,” He was actually introducing Himself as Jehovah Rapha (I am the Lord that healeth thee). He was NOT saying, “I will give you healing” or “I will provide you health.” No, He was saying I AM your HEALING, and I AM your HEALTH. You see, when you touch Jesus, you touch HEALING.

Jesus does not give healing as though it were an object or a thing. He gives HIMSELF. Isn’t that beautiful to know? You don’t have to seek after healing, provision, and protection. When you have Jesus, you have ALL and everything you need.

If there is an area of death in your body, the Lord says to you, “I am the resurrection and the life” (John 11:25). If doctors have told you that you will die young, the Lord says to you, “I am your life and the length of your days” (Deut. 30:20). If you have received a negative diagnosis and are fearful, the Lord says to you, “Don’t be afraid, I am your shield” (Gen. 15:1). If you have been dealing with relapse after relapse and the discouragement is overwhelming you, the Lord declares to you, “I am your strength and your song” (Exodus 15:2). Hallelujah.
