The Finished Work For Divine Health

It is better to trust in the Lord than to put confidence in man. Psalm 118:8

Many people think that the way to get healthy is to watch what they eat. For example, I’ve heard of the Mediterranean diet, and I imagine it’s a healthy one. I agree with a lot of it to some degree. But are you aware that the people whom Jesus healed were also pretty much on a Mediterranean diet? They did not eat pork or shrimp as they are considered unclean or not kosher for them.

All of us want to walk in health and even desire divine health. To do so we can’t focus on just the food we eat or even exercise. So many people, even believers trust in these natural means for their health. Actually it’s better to trust in the Lord and His finished work, than to put your confidence in the latest man-made diet plans and exercise programs.

At the cross, Jesus took your sicknesses and carried your pains, and by His stripes you were healed (Isaiah 53:4-5, 1 Peter 2:24). The Bible even tells us how to escape sickness and premature death, by discerning the Lord’s body when we partake of Communion (1 Corinthians 11:29-30). But instead of focusing on these truths, many of us prefer to focus on dieting and exercising.

Now, as I always say. I am not against eating well or exercising. I believe it is good and I agree we should do the best we can in our eating and exercising. But we shouldn’t eat healthy because our trust is in it. We also shouldn’t exercise with all of our focus on it thinking that’s the only way for us to be healthy.

God doesn’t want you in bondage to eating and exercising anymore than He wants you in bondage to anything. Don’t make laws for eating and exercising, and then trust these laws to give you “divine health. Trust in the FINISHED work of Christ instead. Discern His body when you partake of Communion. And just enjoy your food eating as healthy as you can and your workout program.

God has the answers to everything in life and His Word will direct us in His perfect will and will also give us guidance in the natural things of life as well. Trust in the Lord for everything in life knowing He only desires good things for you and your family.
