Life can be easy and light

Come unto Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Matthew 11:28
 
It’s a joy to know that Jesus cares for us. He knows the worries and concerns we have about our families and futures. He knows and feels the heaviness in your heart and is aware of the sickness in your body. In the midst of all of it, He says to you, “Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Notice Jesus wants to give you rest. And He tells us the way to receive rest is to be yoked with Him, for His yoke is easy and His burden is light (Matthew 11:29-30).  

What does it mean to be yoked with Jesus? Imagine a pair of cows (oxen) yoked together. The younger cow sees what the lead cow does and follows. If the lead cow turns left, the younger cow turns left. If the lead cow stops, the younger cow stops. When the lead cow starts moving again, the younger cow starts moving. In the same way, Jesus wants us to follow His leading and flow with Him.  

It’s not hard to flow with Jesus because He will not lay anything heavy on you, “For My yoke is EASY and My burden is LIGHT” (Matthew 11:30). When you are yoked with Him and you flow with Him, you will find that there is nothing heavy hearted or burdensome from the Lord. When you flow with the Lord, you will find that things fall into place. You will not be weighed down, anxious or distressed.
 
Now you might be saying, “But Don, God has given me this heavy burden. It is weighing heavily on my heart. But friends, remember, Jesus said that His burden is LIGHT. The devil has probably given you the burden to weigh you down.  

Now don’t think for a minute that I am making light of how serious your burden is. I do understand. It’s just that Jesus said that His burden is LIGHT, and His yoke is EASY. So, that means that a life yoked with Him is totally free from anxiety and worry. Yes, every believer should be worry free because you can cast your worry on Him.  

I want to encourage all of you to FOLLOW Jesus’ leading and to flow with Him. Don’t fight against Him trying to go your own way instead of letting Him be the leader in the yoke. You go with Him. Whichever direction He goes, you go that way also. If you’ll do this, you will find complete rest. You can rest in Him knowing He has taken your burdens and cares.  Praise God for His loving care for us.
