The God of more than enough

For he and all who were with him were astonished at the catch of fish which they had taken. Luke 5:9 NKJV

We just finished a series about the covenant and the opposing view. In that series, we talked about how God in Genesis 17 introduced Himself to Abraham as the God who is more than enough. There is so much I could have continued to teach, so this is an extension of that message to help us receive the revelation that He truly is more than enough for anything we may encounter.

Psalm 23:1 tells us that “The Lord is my shepherd; I SHALL NOT WANT.” Another Psalm says, “Oh, fear the Lord, you, His saints. THERE IS NO WANT to those who fear or reverence Him. The young lions lack and suffer hunger; but those who seek the Lord SHALL NOT LACK ANY GOOD THING” (Psalm 34:9-10).

One of the names of our God is Jehovah Jireh, which means “the all providing One.” That means He provides more than just enough. Not only did God come to Abraham as the God who is more than enough but the God of more than enough came in the flesh and walked among His people. And as He walked by the Sea of Galilee, He did not give His disciples SMALL blessings.
That is why He said to Peter, “Launch out into the deep and let down your NETS (plural) for a catch” (Luke 5:4), and not “let down your NET (singular).” And what a catch it turned out to be. A boat sinking, net breaking catch. It was such a big and unexpected blessing that Peter and all who were with him were “astonished at the catch of fish which they had taken.”

Friends, see God’s heart for you today. He wants to fill you with His Holy Spirit, heal your body, bring deliverance to any bondage, and prosper you. Do not settle for anything less, thinking that He only supplies your basic needs. If you need a job, know that He wants you to believe Him not just for a job but a well-paying job with benefits.

He desires for you to live healthy and whole and blessed in all walks of life. You may start out as a new believer with all your needs not being met. But you cannot remain that way when you follow the God of MORE THAN ENOUGH. In fact, like Peter, you too will be astonished that God supplies more than what you need and beyond who you have asked. God is so faithful to bless His people. PTL
