Do all things work together for good?

And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose. Romans 8:28

You notice this verse says, All THINGS work together. This verse requires some teaching to not get in error. This does not mean as some have thought, and even preached from pulpits, that all things are from God. Some things, such as accidents, sicknesses, and broken relationships are not from Him. These things are simply a part of the fallen world that we live in.

But what this verse does tell us is that “ALL things work together for GOOD to those who love God, and to those who are the called according to His purpose.” Notice it speaks of LOVING GOD. That means He and His will are at the top of your priority list. And, that you are living your life in His will and operating within the call of God on your life. This is our inheritance as God’s beloved children.

Now do the people of the world have this inheritance? No, they don’t. When terrible things happen to them, they are what they are, terrible things. But when terrible things happen to the children of God, it does not end there. God can make those terrible things work together for good. To borrow an analogy from the world, when the devil throws lemons at you, God can take those lemons and make refreshing, great tasting lemonade for you.

For example, if you have been laid off or just lost your job, you can believe God who makes all things work together for good and receive a better job with better pay. It’s vitally important that we remember that God is not behind anything bad or ugly. But when those things happen, you can know with assurance that He can make all things work together for good.

So, if you truly love God with all your heart and you desire His perfect will and plan to be at work in your life, you are a candidate for this promise. Because you have been born again, you can rejoice in the truth that all things in your life will work together for GOOD. This is your inheritance as a beloved child of God. This is such a beautiful truth.

Like with Joseph, whatever is meant for harm in your life, God will take that, turn it around to where it ends up being a blessing to you. Wow, what a wonderful, faithful Father we serve. Praise God, praise God.
